Do Ghosts Exist? பேய்கள் இருக்கின்றனவா?
I don’t believe in ghosts, and I would like to share why. Many people say, “If there is good, there must be bad.” But I don’t believe in either.
A lot of people not only believe in life after death, but also think that humans have lived previous lives. This belief is common in many cultures and religions. For some, the idea of an afterlife brings comfort when they lose someone or think about death. So naturally, if they believe in the afterlife, it also becomes easy for them to believe that spirits are still around.
If you enjoy fantasy stories, you may say ghosts exist—but in reality, there is no evidence of ghosts. So if you love ghost stories, movies, and TV shows, why be afraid? For many believers, ghosts represent the hope that something awaits us after death. Even a small belief can bring a strange kind of comfort.
If I ever get a chance to see a ghost in my life, I will change my opinion. Until then, I will stand firmly with my belief: ghosts do not exist unless I personally experience their presence.

நான் பேய்களை நம்புவதில்லை. ஏன் என்று உங்களுக்கு விளக்க விரும்புகிறேன். பலர், “நல்லது இருந்தால், கெட்டதும் இருக்கும்” என்று கூறுவார்கள். ஆனால் நான் நல்லது என்று தனியாக ஒன்றையும், கெட்டது என்று தனியாக ஒன்றையும் நம்புவதில்லை.
பலர் மரணத்திற்குப் பிறகும் வாழ்க்கை இருக்கிறது என்று நம்புவதைப் போலவே, மனிதர்கள் முந்தைய பிறவிகளை வாழ்ந்திருக்கிறார்கள் என்றும் நம்புகின்றனர். இந்த நம்பிக்கை உலகின் பல கலாசாரங்களிலும் மதங்களிலும் பொதுவானது.
யாராவது அன்புக்குரியவர் இறந்தாலோ, நாம் மரணத்தைப் பற்றி சிந்திக்கும்போதோ, இந்த நம்பிக்கை மனதிற்கு ஒரு ஆறுதலாக இருப்பது போல் தோன்றும். ஆகவே, ஆன்மா இருக்கிறது என்று நம்புவோருக்கு, பேய்கள் இருப்பது எநன்ற நம்பிக்கையும் இயல்பாகவே தோன்றுகிறது.
நீங்கள் கற்பனைக் கதைகளை விரும்புபவராக இருந்தால், பேய் இருக்கிறது என்று நீங்கள் சொல்லலாம். ஆனால் உண்மையில் பேய்கள் இருப்பதற்கான எந்த ஆதாரமும் இல்லை. பேய்கள் பற்றிய கதைகள், திரைப்படங்கள், தொலைக்காட்சிப் படைப்புகள் உங்களுக்கு பிடித்திருந்தால், அதையே ரசிக்கும் நீங்கள் ஏன் பயப்பட வேண்டும்?
பலருக்குப் பேய்கள் என்ற எண்ணமே மரணத்திற்குப் பிறகு ஏதோ ஒன்று காத்திருக்கிறது என்ற நம்பிக்கையைத் தருகிறது. ஓரளவு நம்பிக்கையே ஒரு விசித்திரமான ஆறுதலைத் தர முடியும் என்று கருதுகிறார்கள்.
என் வாழ்க்கையில் ஒரு வேளை நான் உண்மையில் பேயைப் பார்த்தால், என் கருத்தை மாற்றிக் கொள்வேன். ஆனால் அதுவரை, நான் என் கருத்தில் உறுதியாக இருப்பேன்:
பேய்கள் இல்லை — நான் நேரடியாக உணர்ந்தால் மட்டுமே அதை நம்புவேன்.
